コンマとコンマの間は挿入句ですので、意味がとりづらければいったんそこを飛ばして考えるとよいでしょう。

そしてそれに「：(コロン)」が続きます。コロンはその前の内容を説明するときに使います。ですのでコロンまでの内容がいまいちつかめなくても、コロンの後をしっかり読めば意味はつかめるのです。
「それら(ダンスの役割)はグループのメンバーを結束させる」
これが第一文の言いたいことですね。あれこれ書いていましたが、要するに「ダンスはメンバーを結束する」ということが言いたかったのです。
次に最終文を確認しましょう。
