内容一致問題対策「◯×△式解答法」

今日から「長文問題」の対策をしていきます。ではさっそく実際の問題を見てもらおうかな。

問題次の文を読んで問いに答えなさい (京都両洋高等学校)
Tom was thirty years old. and he had very long hair. He lived in a big city, but for one year he did not find any work there, so he went to a small town and began to look for work there. He went to a lot of places, but nobody wanted him.
Then he met an old friend, and this man said to him, “People in this town don’t like long hair. Why don’t you go to a barber? He can cut a lot of it off, and then you can get some work.”
Tom went to a barber and said, “Please cut most of my hair off.” The barber began. He cut and cut for a long time and then he said to Tom, “Were you in the army a few years ago?”
“Yes, I was,” Tom answered. “Why did you ask that?”
“Because I’ve found your cap,” the barber said.

なるほど、その気持ちも分からないではない。では「◯×△式解答法」を伝授しましょう。下のように段落ごとでいったん区切って内容一致問題にあたるという解答方法ですよ。

Tom was thirty years old. and he had very long hair. He lived in a big city, but for one year he did not find any work there, so he went to a small town and began to look for work there. He went to a lot of places, but nobody wanted him.
Then he met an old friend, and this man said to him, “People in this town don’t like long hair. Why don’t you go to a barber? He can cut a lot of it off, and then you can get some work.”
Tom went to a barber and said, “Please cut most of my hair off.” The barber began. He cut and cut for a long time and then he said to Tom, “Were you in the army a few years ago?”
　”Yes, I was,” Tom answered. “Why did you ask that?”

ん?　どういうこと?　まずは赤の部分を読めばいいってこと?

そうです。それを踏まえて、問題を作り変えてみました。では、まず下の問題をやってみましょう。

これ位の長さなら何とかなりそうだ。えっと・・・

トムは30歳でした。そして長い髪でした。彼は大きな市に住んでいました。しかし1年、仕事が見つからなかった。それで小さな町に行った。そしてそこで仕事を探した。彼はたくさんの場所に行った。しかし誰も彼を欲しがらなかった

こんな感じですね。

ではその内容が、選択肢に一致しているかどうかを確認してみましょう。

ア. Tom was thirty years old.
イ. Tom could find out his job in a big city easily.
ウ. Tom went to a town to see his friend.
エ. In a small town Tom met his old girl friend.

ア. は「トムは30歳でした」ですね。そのままだな・・・これは「◯」。
イ. は「トムは大きな市で仕事が見つかった」・・・easily って何ですか?　え?　気にしなくてよいのですか?　じゃ「×」。
ウ. は「トムは友達に会うために町に行った」・・・仕事を探すためですよね。じゃ「×」。
エ. は「小さな町でトムは年を取った女友達に会った」・・・???　こんなこと書いてあった?

選択肢の「エ」の内容は、今読んだ中には、書いていなかったよね。ということは「エ」の内容は本文の続きにあるはずだし、さらに言えば「オ」～「ク」の内容も続きにあるはずですよね。

つまり「エ」の内容がまだ出てきていないと分かった時点で、「オ」以降の選択肢を見なくてもよいということです。じゃ、「エ」は「△」としておいて本文の続きを見ていきましょう。

中盤

本文の内容と一致するものに◯、一致しないものに×を付けなさい。

えっと・・・

そのとき彼 (トム) は古い友人に会った。そしてこの男は彼に言った。「この町の人々は長い髪が好きではない。なんで床屋に行かないのですか?　彼 (床屋) はそれ (髪の毛) をたくさん切れるよ。そしてそのとき仕事がゲットできるよ

こんな感じですね。

では選択肢の、続きを見ていきましょう。前回「△」にした「エ」からずらずらっといきますよ。

エ. In a small town Tom met his old girl friend.
オ. People in a small town don’t like long hair.
カ. He asked a barber to cut his hair off in a big city.

エ. は「小さな町でトムは年を古い女友達に会った」・・・会ったのは男の友人だから「×」ですね。
オ. は「小さな町の人々は長い髪が好きではない」・・・「◯」ですね。
カ. は「大きな市で彼は床屋に髪をきるよう頼んだ」・・・???　大きな市に戻ったのですか?　いやこれは「△」だな

そうですね。選択肢「カ」は今読んだ中には、書いていなかったよね。つまり選択肢「キ」「ク」の内容も、本文の続きにあるってことです。じゃ、前回と同じように本文の続きを見ていきましょう。

後半

問題次の文を読んで問いに答えなさい
Tom went to a barber and said, “Please cut most of my hair off.”
The barber began. He cut and cut for a long time and then he said to Tom,
“Were you in the army a few years ago?”
“Yes, I was,” Tom answered. “Why did you ask that?”
“Because I’ve found your cap,” the barber said.
本文の内容と一致するものに◯、一致しないものに×を付けなさい。

えっと・・・

トムは床屋に行って言った「私の髪のほとんどを切ってください」床屋は始めた。彼は長い時間切って切った。そして彼はトムに言った「あなたは何年か前軍隊にいましたか?」
「はい、いました」とトムは答えた「なんでそんなことをたずねるのですか?」
「なぜかというと帽子が見つかったからですよ」と床屋は言った

こんな感じですね。

では選択肢の続きを見ていきましょう。前回「△」にした「カ」からずらずらっといきましょう。

カ. は「大きな市で彼は床屋に髪をきるよう頼んだ」・・・トムは大きな市に戻ってないね。じゃ「×」。
キ. は「トムは何年か前軍隊にいた」・・・[Yes, I was.] って言ってるもんね。「◯」ですね。
ク. は「床屋がトムの髪を切ったとき、床屋は頭からよい絵を見つけた」・・・見つけたのは帽子だから「×」。

これででき上がりですね。どうでしたか?

今までは、全部を読み終わってから問題にとりかかっていましたが、そうするとどこに何が書いてあったのかわからなくなって、本文をあちこち探すことになっていたんです。

句切って読むとそれが減るので、やりやすいと思います。
